Mary started CrossFit in April of 2011 at the urging of Imran( her husband) she said she was doing Zumba, some gym days & some at-home workouts. She said “When I first looked it up online after he mentioned it I was NOT interested in being a meathead with a barbell 😂” Mary says her first workout was Open 11.2 and She fell in love with the community and sport-like feeling of everyone being on the same team with a similar mission cheering one another on. Imran and she got our L-1 the following year and began coaching. Mary also says “I’ve been doing CrossFit for 12 years. I did my first team competition in 2012 & individual in 2013. I’ve also branched out while Crossfitting to compete in more specialized parts of the sport like Strongman & Weightlifting. We’ve been at quite a few boxes and for me once I started coaching at Motiv8 I knew it was home. The thing about being in front of classes and with the community day in and day out is you have a great understanding of what people want and need. Being able to express and discuss that information is pivotal to the continual improvement of the facility and its members. I’ve also never trained with a group of people who push me as much as the Motiv8 crowd does - to test my own limits and to always be getting 1% better.” Outside of CrossFit Mary loves to hang out with her family, walk outside, & read.
